What year did you guys form?
Eric- Around 2003
How did you guys form?
Gary- Well it was me and Tommy
(former guitarist) that started off in
Jr. High School and Allen had just
started playing drums, and Eric met
Tommy in Liverpool (NY). And
that's how we all met.
You guys are a three piece now,
what was the previous line up?
Gary- It was me, Allen, Eric, and
Kris Chase on guitar before we
became a three piece.
What style would you say the
Born Again Rebels are, if you
had to categorize yourselves?
Gary- Aw man I don't even know.
Allen- Raw!
Eric- Rock and Roll
Trandon- A mix of old school and
new school
Gary- I think there has got to be a
term for it.
The early Born Again Rebels
stuff was very classic rock.
How has the band evolved?
Eric- I think we've broadened
our tastes and our horizons. We
play different stuff, but you can
still hear our early roots in our
new stuff.
Gary- Yeah, we definitely ex-
panded with our style. Our
music has definitely gotten
darker and heavier. But then we
have kept our southern and clas-
sic roots. We kinda blend them
with all the heavy sound.
Do you think that it was an
intentional change in sound,
or just an evolution in song
writing?
Gary- It's because of what we've
gone through. It shows in
our song writing... you can
tell.
Eric- It's a natural progres-
sion of the way we've
grown together.
You guys are known for
playing high profile biker
events, Am Jam for in-
stance. How did this
come about for the band?
Gary- Well, the whole
southern rock cover band
thing, when we started off,
kind of just stayed with us. I don't
know who actually put the label on
us, but people would say, "You guys
are a biker band." I'm not com-
plaining or anything.
Eric- Yeah, we never started out
trying to be a band like that, it just
happened. But it's
not a bad place to be
thrown.
Gary and Allen, you
guys being brothers
and a drummer/gui-
tar team much like
Pantera and Van
Halen, how does
this affect the band
dynamic?
Gary- I think we have
a better chemistry.
We are around each
other a lot and live
together. You can just
tell...
Chuck- ... that you
came from the
same womb?
Gary- Yeah (laughs)
Eric- We can leave the womb out of
this.
Gary- We've fuckin' been playing
together forever. We know what
we are gonna do on stage with out
even looking at each other. I think
it just ads a better chemistry to the
band.
Eric, do you feel like a family
counselor?
(laughs) I definitely feel stuck be-
tween some battles sometimes.
Sometimes I have to step back and
let them do what they got to do.
