window. A big 2'x4' window and I had a
piece of glass the size of Arkansas sticking
outta my hand. Oh yea, not good.
b) "And what one of the saddest days of
his early childhood was..."
Chucky: My early childhood? It was when
Paul moved away, he moved to Painted
Post and I was like nine years old. My best
friend was leaving and it was the end of
the world...
Hop: Oh, you and Paul grew-up togeth-
er?
Chucky: Oh yeh, Paul was my first best
friend from when I was like five years old.
My very first friend. I cried like a fukkin'
baby, sittin' in the lawn chair in my back
yard. It was traumatic, nine years old and
I lost my best friend, he moved away, it
sucked.
Hop: Joe Murphy (Freya) asks "What is
the first metal record you ever bought as
a kid?"
Chucky: Uh-oh, hehe...the first metal
record I bought? The first metal record
I bought was Shout at the Devil, Motley
Crue, yep, haha, cuz Styx and Journey I
wouldn't consider metal! Hahaha. I mean
I had other records from my brothers, like
Sly and the Family Stone and shit, but the
first I bought with my own money, oh yeh,
Shout at the Devil, pentagrams and shit,
got me thrown outta Catholic school...
hahaha.
Hop: All down hill from there huh? Ha-
hahaha
Hop: The final two questions come from
me and Cin:
Cin: "Where did the name `Chucky Luv'
come from?"
Chucky: The name was given to me back
in the early `90's just before Nirvana hit,
when all the big hair bands were still around
but fading out, I don't know maybe it was
the late `90's, it `s kind of a blur, I was still
drinkin' then, haha! But we were doing
sound check one day and I was working
with this band Heaven Sent and doing
the drum check, the kick drum, ya know,
(beats chest) and it sounded like the begin-
ning of "Ironman". And I come walking
across the stage with something and it was
like (while beating chest) "I-AM-CHUCKY-
LUV"....and it stuck. Almost twenty years
fukkin' later, from my buddy Pat Griffin,
and here it is.
Hop: I've watched you work with so many
bands over the years; it's what you do and
what you're good at. If you were told to-
morrow that you can't do this anymore,
that you could no longer be a part of the
music industry, what would be your new
path in life?
Chucky: I think it would be some sort of
counseling for kids...believe it or not. I
mean, going through rehab and stuff like
that I thought about being a counselor, ya
know? I think I'd wanna do some-
thing with kids, but other people's
kids, don't want none of my own,
hahaha. Something where I could
help people. Granted I'm not going
to change somebody's diaper or wash
their ass but maybe just one of those
guys working in the hospital pushing
people around in their chairs all day
talking with them. I couldn't be a
`nine to five' guy. Could never put
on a suit or any of that shit, it would
have to be something involved with
people.
Hop: Thanks man. Dinner's ready,
let's eat!
